Google recently announced a new analytics feature that will allow website admins new capabilities including:
- Distinguish between multiple links to the same destination page, attributing the right number of clicks to each link.
- Provide click-through information even when redirects are being used.
- Provide click-through information for other elements such as buttons or navigations that were triggered by JavaScript code.
This new feature solves the issue of understanding which link website visitors clicked on to get to the page. Previously, Google Analytics was only showing clickthrough information by URL and not the actual link on the page.
The feature will roll out gradually, but according to Google should be available to Analytics users in a couple of weeks.
